The Balance of Power

Job 21:7-16 NKJV — Why do the wicked live and become old,
Yes, become mighty in power? Their descendants are established with them in their sight,
And their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are safe from fear,
Neither is the rod of God upon them. Their bull breeds without failure;
Their cow calves without miscarriage. They send forth their little ones like a flock,
And their children dance. They sing to the tambourine and harp,
And rejoice to the sound of the flute. They spend their days in wealth,
And in a moment go down to the grave. Yet they say to God, ‘Depart from us,
For we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways. Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him?
And what profit do we have if we pray to Him?’ Indeed their prosperity is not in their hand;
The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

One of the more famous lines delivered from Darth Vader while confronting Luke Skywalker was, “If you only knew the power of the Dark Side.” As powerful as that line was it still was another failed attempt to convince Luke to crossover to a life of evil. The eventual outcome of the saga was redemption for Darth Vader but of course this is the movies. In real life, redemption is the last thing some people are wanting to receive.

Many people achieve wealth, fame and power in many different ways. Blood, sweat and tears can be the noble way of achieving this but there are some that are not so honorable. The passage in the book of Job is a perfect example of how wealth and power is acquired. It was apparent then and it is apparent now. The Left, the liberals or the ones that do not want conservative values or Godly ways to define our lifestyles seem to rule the day. The argue that they want help the poor, the sick and the homeless or should it be the country-less is just a ploy to regain the control that they have lost in recent years.

Men and women, since the beginning of time, have been tempted with the promise of ultimate knowledge, wealth, fame and notoriety if they would just walk away from God and follow the road of lies and false promises. The devil even tempted Jesus with a temptation that unfortunately many people have fallen into;

Matthew 4:8-10 NKJV — Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

Jesus gave the answer that we all should give when we are asked to make a choice between God or the devil.

To change the unbalance of power we must pray and ask the Lord to forgive and turn us away from evil and draw us closer to Him so that we will receive the reward of everlasting life and live in a kingdom without end. We can always make a difference if we obey God’s commandments and pray for one another.

2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV — “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
