Noah’s Last Cruise

“Field of Dreams” is a 1989 film about an Iowa corn farmer who hears a voice telling him: “If you build it, he will come.” He interprets this as an instruction to build a baseball diamond in his fields. In return, the baseball field paves the way to save the home and corn fields from the debt collectors. Of course, this is a movie but what if someone decided to take action on the following instruction;

Genesis 6:14-16 NKJV — “Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. “And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. “You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.

A gentleman in Holland has decided to do just that. Dutch Christian businessman Johan Huibers plans to sail his life-size replica of Noah’s Ark to Israel as reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Huibers completed the four-year project – built to the exact specifications in Genesis 6 – in 2012, raising the 5 million dollars needed for its construction. He had hoped to sail it to Israel not long after its completion, but Israel was dealing with massive wildfires at the time so the plan was postponed. Though the ark quickly became a popular tourist attraction in southern Holland along the Maas River, Huibers says it belongs in Israel.

His love for the land, people and country are his reasons to attempt such an endeavor. According to Huibers, he needs to raise 1.3 million dollars to hire tugboats for the voyage because the ark has no motor of its own. Huibers hopes his replica of Noah’s Ark will help people understand that God is real, “to show people that God exists.” He says we’re living in the end times though many people aren’t aware of it.

This would be an extraordinary feat if he were able to get this achieved. It remains to be seen. Which brings us to another question, what if someone where to find the missing Ark of the Covenant? Yes, just like the one featured in the film, “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

The finding of the lost Ark would offer more physical proof that the content contained in the Holy Bible is true but the real challenge is to have a faith in things that are unseen. Having artifacts would validity a lot but let us remember what Jesus said to Thomas when He appeared to him after the resurrection;

John 20:27-29 NKJV — Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Even though there may be replicas of both the search for the real Arks continue to this day. Where could the Ark of the Covenant be? Only God would know and He has not revealed the location of its whereabouts to us yet. If we recall the last scene of “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” then we might have a clue…

…and as the Millennials would say, “lol.”
