Luke 21:25-26 NKJV — “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; “men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
What exactly is going on in the skies above us? Strange lights seen over the west Texas city of Midland, Texas. Did it finally happen? Space aliens had flown into Texas bypassing the southern U.S. border and parking their UFO caravan on the airfield just north of the Midland College campus. Well…let’s take a reality check…this didn’t happen but the lights over Midland was a real event.
As reported by KWES TV in Midland, Texas, on January 8, 2019, calls of the lights came from across town reporting as few as three lights and as many as 50. The National Weather Service in Midland said the lights were due to light from gas flares refracted by thermal inversion. Until the event was confirmed the lights did cause some concern for local residents in a town that’s been known for a few close encounters in the past.
The mysterious lights over Texas was easily explained but how and what is the explanation of what we witnessed in the night time sky on January 20, 2019? A rare lunar eclipse entitled the “Super Blood Wolf Moon” appeared across the world, including the U.S. – According to CBS News, the unusual name for this lunar eclipse comes from the three events happening at once:
1. “Super Moon” – a full moon that appears bigger than normal because it’s at its closest point to Earth during its orbit.
2. “Wolf Moon” – a Native American term used to describe the first full moon of the year.
3. “Blood Moon” – the moon appears to be reddish in color during a total lunar eclipse as the sun, Earth and moon all line up.
In recent years, a number of blood moons have captured global attention, causing some to speculate about a possible connection to prophecy and the End Times. Many Christians believe scripture indicates a Blood Moon is a sign from God regarding the return of Jesus Christ. Here are 3 different scriptures that are often used to support the claim;
Joel 2:31 NKJV — The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
Acts 2:20 NKJV — The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
Revelation 6:12 NKJV — I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.
Pastor John Hagee, author of the 2014 best-selling book “Four Blood Moons,” and his belief that throughout history blood moons have been a sign from God to the world that something big is about to happen. He correlated previous blood moons to the important events happening in the U.S. and Israel. In a recent interview given by Pastor Hagee, he told CBN News, “The evidence is very clear scripturally that God controls the sun, moon and stars – that God is sending us a signal through the sun, the moon and the stars. The question is, are we listening?” Only prayer and seeking God’s wisdom can truly give us the answer about the message He might be trying to convey to us. Experts say there will be four more eclipses this year.
The Ten Commandment
Another possible sign that God may be giving is the aerial assault the people of Mecca, Saudi Arabia are experiencing. God had promised Abraham that he would be the father of many nations and that promise was fulfilled but the Lord God may be displeased with a disobedience of one of His Holy Commandments He gave to all the descendants of Abraham;
Exodus 20:3-5 NKJV — “You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
The holiest site in Islam, the Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabia’s sacred city of Mecca, has been bombarded by a swarm of insects, and local authorities are struggling to clean up the mess. Droves of insects identified as black grasshoppers descended on Mecca earlier this year, bugging worshippers at the Grand Mosque. Images of the locusts buzzing around light fixtures, clinging to marble surfaces and even blanketing praying pilgrims spread throughout social media, prompting the city to take action. Muslims are not sure what to make of this locust invasion but it could be a sign that s change may be coming to the Middle East and the Lord can use anything or any living creature to implement that change.
Many more signs will come as the time for the return of our Lord draws near. Jesus does not want us to be afraid of the calamities on this Earth, put your trust in Him and His protection will always be with you. Jesus wants you to be comforted and reassured;
Luke 21:28 NKJV — “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
