Apples, Oranges and Peaches

Isaiah 3:9-12 NKJV — The look on their countenance witnesses against them,

And they declare their sin as Sodom;

They do not hide it.

Woe to their soul!

For they have brought evil upon themselves. “Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them,

For they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him,

For the reward of his hands shall be given him. As for My people, children are their oppressors,

And women rule over them.

O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err,

And destroy the way of your paths.”

People in every direction. Friends, family, congregations and clubs we all belong to in the hope that they will lead us to a better quality of life. Living in a country with so much freedom and wealth it’s no wonder why immigrants, legal and illegal, are migrating to the land of dreams. Overflowing borders and nowhere to put the people is just one of the problems Congress and the President can’t seem to come to a solution to help the “caravans” of immigrants. Why are our leaders stuck in a tug of war?

Matthew 7:15-18 NKJV — “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

The Atlanta Falcons were flying high. They had dominated the New England Patriots for more than half the game. It was 28 – 3 midway through the 3rd quarter. The broadcasters, the fans and the media had relented to the fact that the championship belong to the Falcons. It was a done deal, it was over – but things were about to change.

What happened next no one could have predicted. The New England Patriots pulled off the greatest deficit comeback in Super Bowl history and defeated the Atlanta Falcons in overtime. For Atlanta fans and most of America it was unbelievable. How could this happen? The game was in hand, there was no way they could lose, it was hard to accept but the result was real. It was also an example of never taking anything for granted. Never assume the outcome when there is still time. The Patriots had won another title;

Matthew 7:20 NKJV — “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Not accepting the outcome of an election or a independent report is a problem our government faces. The bickering from both sides of the aisle makes it hard to determine who is right and who is wrong. The war of words between House leader Nancy Pelosi and President Donald Trump is like watching an episode of the old sitcom “All in the Family.” The loss of power and credibility has driven the left, democrats and the media to extremes in attacking conservatives, Christians and the White House claiming that the views of the right are racist and unamerican. Fear of uncovering the truth about their actions could lead to legal problems and possible prison time has led to all the finger pointing on both sides. Living in denial is what we see the politicians, the countries and the world doing. We are the apples and oranges which means we are all the same.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 NKJV — The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Do we really want to follow the antics and reasoning of the unrighteous? No direction and no plan for the future. Rejecting the truth because of the fear of uncovering the sin in our lives. Like the politicians who see a growing economy, low unemployment and a reemergence of the United States being a world leader, believe that if they impeach the prosperity we have with a plan of chaos.

If we are known by our fruit then we should be aware that the Lord knows who we are and we should dedicate our lives serving God and preaching the Gospel. The world offers temporary solutions but if we choose those solutions there is a price to pay. Heaven or hell? The choice can’t be any more blunt. Don’t pay attention to the noise you hear from the unrighteous because God has a better, perfect promise, His name is Jesus Christ and if you believe and trust in Him not only will you bear good fruit but peace and eternal life will be yours.

John 14:15-18 NKJV — “If you love Me, keep My commandments. “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— “the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Pray that our leaders can find a way to work together for the good of the people. Most importantly, we must pray that our relationship with the Lord grows closer and stronger so that when we witness to others they will see the Light of the world, who is Jesus, flowing from you and the fruit that you bear will be good.

James 3:16-18 NKJV — For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
