The Fruit of a Tree

Matthew 12:33 NKJV — “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

There’s nothing like a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning, especially if the oranges are from Florida. Grown and produced in the orange groves of the sunshine state. Evidence of a good fruit coming from a good tree. Depending on the type of fruit it is there may only be a limited shelf life for the fruit before it finally goes bad.

In this current digital age we see the actions of almost anyone. Someone says or does something online and before you know it…it goes viral. The fruit they produce can come in various flavors. Some can be a little too tart for our taste but still can be amusing. Other fruits can be downright distasteful. Going past their prime and the ripeness they once held has now turned rotten. Sure they look great on the outside but the minute you peel it open you find the ugliness inside. The spirit of hate and bigotry is in full swing in our world and we are beginning to see it taking aim at Christians, conservatives and the jewish people. Evidence of a fruit gone bad.

Matthew 12:34 NKJV — “Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Immigration or should it be called, illegal immigration, is still the 24 / 7 problem that it has been for decades. Congress and the White House still can’t seem to come to the table and find a solution. Both sides of the aisle are too busy throwing insults at each other and the plight of the immigrants flooding over the U.S. southern border has grown critical.

With limited funds and resources ICE and border patrol agents are doing all they can to contain the flow of immigrants and where to house them once the immigrants are detained. Criticism of the Trump Administration over the border crisis has come from some people who have never taken the time to visit and witness the problem first hand. One particular critic who’s had problems with accuracy and facts is Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Recently she tweeted a comparison that raised an uproar and a backlash from various groups;

“This administration has established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying. This is not hyperbole. It is the conclusion of expert analysis.”

On June 17, 2019, In a live stream, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of New York, called the U.S.’s detention facilities for migrants “concentration camps.” Responses were immediately raised, tweets fired, and in less than an hour and a half later, Rep. Liz Cheney, of Wyoming, tweeted, “Please @AOC do us all a favor and spend just a few minutes learning some actual history. 6 million Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust. You demean their memory and disgrace yourself with comments like this.” A high-pitched battle of tweets and op-eds took off down the much travelled dead-end road of arguments about historical analogies. Overall, the comparison that Ocasio-Cortez made was wrong and very uninformed. Ocasio-Cortez never apologized for her comment. What was the fruit she produced?

Matthew 7:15-20 NKJV — “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez may have made her rise to prominence as a new, modern day, young advocate of the Democrats but her agenda of socialism, environmental control and her overall rejection of Israeli support by the U.S. puts her on the fast track of becoming part of the political elite who is not a friend of conservatives and Christians.

With the actions and words of one high profiled public figure being defined as an example of bad fruit, is there any good fruit to be found?

Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV — And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

The Lord has commissioned us to spread the Gospel in all the world. Many have and many have been led to Jesus. Instead of pointing out the rotten apples in the orchard, let’s look at the efforts of someone close to home, someone some of you might know, if not then let us introduce to you, Lana Infante.

Lana Infante and her son Zachary

From time to time she has been featured on the TopicalWave website sharing the Word of God. The road that led her to this point hasn’t been easy but with her relentless desire to serve God she has managed to be a business owner in the south metro area of Atlanta, Georgia, managing 2 non-profit organizations, Administration Coordinator for TopicalWave.Com as well as being a devoted loving daughter and mom.

Recently Lana had the opportunity to share the Word of God in the country of India. By invitation she was asked to give a message about evangelism to a Bible college class in Vizianagaram, India. Where students walk 8 to 12 kilometers or 7 to 10 miles everyday just to attend the college. Without leaving the comfort of her home technology has given her the opportunity to travel halfway around the world by video. In a brief statement when asked about the experience she replied,

“It was exciting! I never thought it was possible but God has opened a door and I am truly blessed to be a witness for the Lord.”

To devote time, effort and most importantly prayer in complying with the Lord’s Great Commission requires a lot of energy and we must pray that the Lord will give her the strength and guidance while she’s juggling so many responsibilities all for the glory of God. Evidence of a fruit that is good.

Matthew 12:35-37 NKJV — “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Maybe it’s too easy to spot the bad fruit when it surfaces? Politicians are an easy target because, as a whole, they have put themselves in the forefront of social, racial and religious issues. They believe they are the only one who belongs in the spotlight and are driven by the power of “me, myself and I” which we know that “I” is not found in the word “team.” We are dismayed by what we see by our public leaders and if we turn to find someone to lead us we ask the age old question, “Where are the Prophets? Who can we trust to lead us?” There are plenty of good fruits out there. Roswell, Georgia, Seoul, South Korea and Melbourne, Australia are just some of the cities that have witnessed the power of God and there are many around the world that are being fruitful and multiplying the Kingdom of God.

Brooks, Georgia may be a small town south of Atlanta but it is the home of a lady with a big heart of gold and a relentless desire to preach, teach and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. If we are known by our fruit then we should try to do what we can to let others see Jesus in us. The original command of, “Be fruitful and multiply” that God gave us in the beginning still stands but it has also morphed into the calling Jesus gave us in His Great Commission,Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,” Jesus is the answer for the world today.

Psalm 1:3 NKJV — He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
