“Welcome to the Fabulous, Extraordinary, Miraculous show west of St. Louis! Come on and see what’s happening!
Pay the price, get the cure for what ails ya! A miracle has come to you today!”
Who were these people? They claim to have the cure for all the health problems we have. Can it really be true? What exactly is in that bottle they’re selling? – Traveling medicine shows were commonplace during the 1800’s in the American old west. They usually promoted “miracle elixirs,” sometimes referred to as snake oil, which, it was claimed, had the ability to cure disease, smooth wrinkles, remove stains, prolong life or cure any number of common ailments. Most shows had their own patent medicine. These medicines were for the most part unpatented but took the name to sound official. Medicine shows often included a freak show, a flea circus, musical acts, magic tricks, jokes, or storytelling. Each show was run by a man posing as a doctor who drew the crowd with a monologue. Entertainers, such as acrobats, musclemen, magicians, dancers, ventriloquists, exotic performers, and trick shots, kept the audience engaged until the salesman sold his medicine. Once they had achieved the results they had hoped for, which was usually a monetary one, it was onto the next town and a new unsuspecting crowd.

By the time the people of the town realized they were sold a bottle of colored water, the traveling medicine show was long gone and had changed its name. Fooled by empty promises of a better quality of life and vowing to never fall for a scam like this one, unbelievably, after a year or maybe two, another traveling show would come into town with, supposedly, “new and improved” miracle cures but unfortunately the result was the same. What was experienced in the old west is similar to what we are experiencing today. We want to believe that our leaders or potential leaders are going to deliver a better life but what they propose somehow doesn’t fit the criteria that we desire. Left or right? Who will lead us to that happiness we continuously pursue?

It seems like almost every day we are asked to make a choice. The ruling class get behind their podiums and claim they have the “answer” but what is that “answer?” We hear the rhetoric about climate change but the scientific proof is not provided. They tell you that if a church, mosque, religious non-profit organization or a Christian faith based service that refuses to accept homosexuals, transgenders (when God and credible doctors and scientists have proven there are only two), same sex marriages and alternative lifestyles that contradict God’s and conservative values will lose their tax exempt status. Total government control over your personal life and civil liberties that we will not be able to make a decision without their permission.

Socialism, by definition, is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. – In the countries where this has been implemented, it has failed, Greece and Venezuela are two recent examples. Greed and corruption are encouraged by the very government officials that put socialism into place. Freedom to choose your own healthcare provider, bare arms for protection, food for your family and the basic amenities for a good quality of life all taken away unless your application for such things are approved by the government. What’s next, the mark of the beast? It’s closer than you might think.

The vision for 2020 and beyond that these “Traveling Entertainers” propose are promising for them but for the audience they perform to, not so much. Double talk, finger pointing and unverified accusations are all they offer from their platform. High taxes and intense government regulations seem to be the only solutions they have to offer. The fears that they preach are unsubstantiated. While traveling to Denmark to speak at a climate change conference Rep. Alexandra Ocasio – Cortez (D, NY) raised a taboo dimension of climate change few politicians would dare to touch.

The response to her statement was predictably swift. Many critics believe that the 29-year-old lawmaker is demanding that Americans stop having children and submit to “civilizational suicide.” But it is not just the United States, they also want to dictate their policies to the entire world.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) believes that “population control” should be enforced by allowing a limit to family size and having the ability for women to have abortions in all U.S. states and territories and tax payer money should be used to fund abortions in third world countries. Again, higher taxes for the rich and middle class would be applied and the ability for self-reliance would be eliminated.

So what is this “snake oil” they are peddling out to the world? Globalist, progressive left wingers and the “Democratic” Socialist Party want you to believe that their remedies are what you need. Drink from the bottle and all your cares will be solved. Can this be true? Is God involved? They will tell you that their ideas are inspired and enlighten but you will never hear them say that Jesus, the Son of God, is the source for their inspired way of life.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 NKJV — For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Second Timothy that a time will come when people will tell you that their control binding policies, socialist ideas, unlawfulness, unholy and unrighteousness is the only way to find tranquility and peace. What they propose is an oxymoron. We must have faith and put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ that all our needs will be met. We must not forget that we must pray for the leaders of this world that they can allow God to provide them with wisdom to find the right solutions for our troubled world.

God’s Holy Word tells us in the book of Romans on how we should live and what will happen to those who reject Him. Ask the Lord to help you discern and to be wise when someone comes around to sell you something that’s too good to be true. – Buyer Beware.
