2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV — “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The chart with letter was placed on the wall. The big letters were easy to see but then the Ophthalmologist (eye doctor) assistant asked me to read the third line. It was then that the problem became very “clear” or should I say, “out of focus?” My vision needed help. For the first time in my life, my view of the world I lived in was very limited. Leaving the doctor’s office with the knowledge that I would need glasses for the rest of my life was disconcerting but now I could not only see the big picture but I could pay attention to the little details in life.

Losing focus and not taking in the whole picture seems to be the way of life in our society today. Political turmoil, lawlessness, tyranny and homelessness we witness around the world. Suppression of religious freedom and racial inequality is running rapid throughout the world. Since Y2K and the dawn of the digital age we seem to be moving backwards. Our vision for a prosperous and peaceful world has become severely impaired.

Matthew 24:6-8 NKJV — “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. “All these are the beginning of sorrows.

The Lord told His disciples as well as those who believe, follow and read the Word of God, that in the latter days we would witness such events and to pray and be prepared for His return. Just in the United States alone, we have seen racial riots, gang violence, sexual depravity and a complete disregard of the U.S. Constitution and the democratic election process. In the midst of all this, no plans or talk about the future and how to make it better. Many believe that the election of Donald J. Trump was a Godsend and in some ways that may be true but what if it were just a reprieve to get our house in order?

Jesus Speaking to the Pharisees
*
Matthew 16:1-4 NKJV — Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; “and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

Since the rebirth of the nation of Israel in 1948, there have been many who have predicted when the end of the world would occur. Now as a new decade arrives many more are being made. According to these so called “prophets,” 2020 and beyond doesn’t sound too promising for those who put their faith in a world system without God. Like the Pharisees we keep looking for a sign so that we will know what and when to know so we can get our lives in order. The Lord tells us that a “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given…” – It may sound harsh and cold but the signs have already been given and the Word of God is ever present for us to read.

The leaders of our world promise a better tomorrow but the freedoms we enjoy may soon be taken away if we allow ungodly lifestyles and unrighteousness to run unchecked. We must seek out God’s guidance and wisdom through His Holy Spirit and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all the world. Remember, tomorrow is not a sure thing.

Proverbs 27:1 NKJV — Do not boast about tomorrow,
For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

The sunrise of 2020 is upon us and only God knows what is in-store for us. Pray for our leaders, our pastors, missionaries, evangelists, teachers, friends and families that we all may be drawn into the presence of God and rejoice that our Lord paid the price so that we would have everlasting life.

John 3:16-17 NKJV — “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
