Nothing worse than having the flu. You feel so bad you think you’re going to die. Your life energy is taken away and no matter how much chicken soup you eat and medicine you take there just seems to be no relief in sight. How did this happen? We all try to live healthy but we still get sick. The cure for the common cold hasn’t been found, only relief can be found, but how do we protect ourselves from viruses we can’t see? Do we have a defense? History shows that we have had pandemics before and the medical community has found a way to treat them. But the world seems to be blindsided by the latest export from The People’s Republic of China – the Coronavirus.

Ground zero, Wuhan, China: First identified in December 2019, and now called COVID-19, continues to spread, primarily in China but cases have also appeared in some two dozen other countries. Cruise ships, their crews and passengers detained and put into quarantine in Italy, Japan and off the New Jersey coast. Not allowed to disembark until the two week incubation period was over. Questions have been raised concerning the handling of information by the Chinese government on the origin and outbreak of the virus. Many believe the outbreak of the coronavirus is worse than what is being reported by the Chinese and media outlets. Despite the efforts to control the flow of information, reports of the outbreak keep surfacing.

Headlines like this give the appearance that containing the virus to a specific region or country could be an impossible task. While the number of patients worldwide is increasing, some virus clusters have shown no link to China and experts are struggling to trace where those clusters started. The world is fast approaching a tipping point in the spread of the coronavirus, according to experts, who warn that the disease is outpacing efforts to contain it, after major outbreaks forced Italy and Iran to introduce stringent internal travel restrictions and South Korea’s president placed the country on red alert.

Some of the countries most affected by the virus are scrambling to halt its progress two days after Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), said the international community needed to act quickly before the narrowing “window of opportunity” closed completely. With almost 78,000 cases of Covid-19 now confirmed across the globe, experts say the situation will soon reach a critical threshold.

The fear of this virus or any other sickness, airborne or not, is debilitating, especially, for those countries that are not equipped to fight against disease and medical emergencies. Not since the late 1970’s and the onset of the AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) outbreak has there been such attention given to a pandemic event. We should be concerned but it’s not saying that we were not warned. Jesus spoke about it as indicated in Matthew 24 and the Apostle John wrote in the book of Revelation that there will be more to come;

Revelation 6:8 ESV — And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.

In the latter days and especially during the tribulation the world will experience many challenges to their lives and health. The problem we all face is the lack of disclosure and transparency by news outlets, governments and health organizations. The obsession to control information and subjecting people to endless propaganda of globalism and limited freedoms will lead many to an untimely demise if the misinformation continues on the coronavirus or any other sickness. Over 35 countries have been affected and with a virus that has become airborne, is becoming very hard to defeat.

We face a troubling trend in not turning to God for a solution. We pride ourselves with our ingenuity and education by shaking our fists at the Lord, proclaiming that we don’t need Him and to stay out of our way will bring mankind to choose their fate. God is loving and merciful. Prayer and obedience to His Holy Word will protect and give us the healing we need during any crisis. We must also realize that God is fair and just. There is a price to pay if we continue to walk away and refuse God’s guidance;

Leviticus 26:19-21 NKJV — I will break the pride of your power;
I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze. And your strength shall be spent in vain;
for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit. ‘Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues, according to your sins.

In this passage God was talking to Israel soon after the deliverance from Egypt but it’s also a message to our world and those seeking power in our society.

Isaiah 59:19 NKJV — So shall they fear
The name of the LORD from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.

The coronavirus is coming in like a flood but if we turn to the Lord, He will provide the standard and give the medical tools to fight the virus. Globalism is not the answer and their philosophy of not respecting boundaries of any kind only invites the enemy and his agents of fear to dwell in the hearts of men. Let Jesus cast out that fear and His Holy Spirit give you the joy and peace you desire.

1 Peter 2:24 NKJV — who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
