After nearly 3 months, Wuhan (the epicenter of the pandemic in China) announced that it would be loosening the lockdown by gradually resuming public transportation and allowing healthy people to go back to work. China had put Wuhan and other cities into lockdown on January 23, 2020 when a total of 25 deaths had been reported in the country. After about 3 weeks of lockdown, the number of new deaths reached its peak in China and then began declining.

Italy went into a similar lockdown on March 11, 2020 when 827 deaths had already been reported, and 8 days after reaching 79 deaths on March 3, 2020 and 19 days after the beginning of the outbreak in the country. On February 22, 2020, Italy had become the country with the highest number of cases among all non-Asian nations.

The death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy barrelled past 10,000 on March 28, 2020, a figure that made an extension of a national lockdown almost certain. Officials said 889 more people died in the previous day, the second highest daily tally since the epidemic emerged on Feb. 21, 2020 and that total fatalities reached 10,779.

New York City streets were empty on March 22, 2020, as the city’s lockdown went into effect, requiring residents to stay home. Coronavirus cases in the state have risen sharply to 92,381, of the 241,658 total across the U.S.

Los Angeles, USA

One of the most iconic cities in America, Los Angeles, seemed to have stood still on March 20, 2020, after California issued a stay-at-home order due to the coronavirus disease in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti essentially instructed residents not to engage in any social activity that’s too big to take place in one room. The LA Times reported.

Dallas, Texas, USA

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has issued a shelter-at-home order for the county starting at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020. It will last until at least April 3, 2020. The order states, “all individuals currently living within Dallas County are ordered to shelter at their place of residence, unless doing an “essential activity” (going to the grocery story or getting other necessary supplies, exercising while complying with social distancing, going to work, or caring for another family member or pet).
