Driven to Tears

The night carries a lot of anger. A darkness has covered the country of the United States from coast to coast. 2020 began with so much promise but soon turned into a living nightmare. A world-wide pandemic that shut down an economy that was prospering. Citizens locked down inside their homes and cities turning into ghost towns. Our freedom and civil liberties being stripped away and regulated to only what liberal bureaucrats deem essential and if they feel you’re in violation of the orders they have implemented then you are fined and imprisoned.

Memorial Day weekend, the official commercial start of summer. After 2 ½ months of self quarantine, COVID-19 testing and loss of employment, some states began to re-open and people were getting out to recapture their lives. Unfortunately, something went terribly wrong.

On May 25, Minneapolis resident George Floyd was pinned face down on the ground, in handcuffs, by a police officer who pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes. Floyd, a 46 year old black man, was suspected of passing a counterfeit $20 bill. He was unresponsive when paramedics arrived, and he was pronounced dead later due to the actions of the officers involved.

Unrest, protest, rioting and looting commenced and the world witnessed what some are calling, “America on fire.” – Some of this action was encouraged by some Democrats and leftist government leaders. What is hard to believe is that these leaders who claim they are advocates for the people are “fiddling” while their cities are burning. Across the nation riots have broken out in major cities in what seems to be a coordinated effort to cripple the country.

Mayors of major cities imposed curfews, governors in nearly a dozen states deployed the National Guard in a desperate bid to stem the mayhem, chaos, and wreckage. Though the incident that touched off the rioting occurred Monday, May 25, 2020, in Minnesota and led to a cop being swiftly charged with murder, the damage seemed to culminate Saturday night, May 30, 2020, and spanned from coast to coast.

In New York City, the NYPD said at least 345 people were arrested and at least 47 police vehicles damaged or destroyed during the violent clashes. A total of 33 police officers were also injured. In Beverly Hills, California, shops along the storied Rodeo Drive were looted as a crowd estimated at more than 2,000 people chanted “Eat the rich.”

What was once a united nation after the 9/11 attacks has now been drowned in a wave of hate that there may be no recovery from. A wake up call was given by the pandemic but political rhetoric continued. Instead of turning to God for guidance and wisdom during these perilous times, leaders on both sides of the political aisle have chosen evil and “the lesser of two evils,” which is still – evil, to be their guiding force. The people have had enough.

Violence, mayhem, looting and harm to your neighbor is not the answer. There is another way that the devil does not want you to take. A way that will give you peace and understanding in a time that seems to be void of.

The world is watching and if the United States cannot be the light of the world for freedom, justice and prosperity then who can? In our times of trouble we have come to God in prayer and have seen miraculous results. Unrighteous and ungodly people mock prayer and God and reject Jesus, who was crucified on the cross so that we may have redemption from sin, not realizing that separation from God and the resulting fate of this course of action wasn’t meant for them but they choose otherwise.

Galatians 6:7-10 NKJV — Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

We Must Pray
.
As believers and followers of Christ, we must gather together and pray for the deliverance and salvation of our nation and the world. People from all walks of life desperately need the promise of hope, love and everlasting life that only Jesus Christ can provide. Many claim that we have fallen from grace but it is through the Lord’s grace that we can be forgiven of our transgressions and be redeemed in the eyes of God. Only through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was crucified for the remission of our sins and rose from the dead so that we may have victory over death and the eternal promise of life, only through Him can we come to God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV — “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
