The Love of a Dad.

Malachi 4:6 NKJV — And he will turn

The hearts of the fathers to the children,

And the hearts of the children to their fathers…”

I’ll never forget that early morning on the day my daughter was born and I officially became a dad. I know, I know, my wife did all the work but it was an exciting nerve wrecked night as I witnessed the miracle given to us by God right before our very eyes. She was the most precious little baby I had ever seen. My wife and I became parents and if anyone who knew us would have told you that there was no way that was ever going to happen. – But there she was, Jennifer Rose Infante, born at 3:57am on March 17, 1992.

.

It was an answer to a prayer I had given 12 years before when I had accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. At the time, 1980, there had been so much talk, many sermons preached and renowned TV Bible scholars claimed and predicted that the rapture would happen in 1982 and the world would end before the 1980’s would come to a conclusion. Being 16, I figured there would be no way I would ever get married or even be a dad. It didn’t matter. I had decided to follow Jesus and live my life in His service and as I prayed, at the altar of my dad’s church, I asked the Lord that if there was ever a chance and if it would be His will, I would really like to be a husband and a dad. I went on to finish high school and pursue my television career as a producer/director. 1982 came and the world went on. The scholars must have forgotten these words from Jesus.

.

Matthew 24:36 NKJV — “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

.

No matter, I kept on going. Then 1986 arrived and I met the girl that would change my life. For the better, of course. We got married and before we knew it we had a baby girl.

My prayer had been answered and everyday I am learning and understanding what it takes to be a loving dad, adviser and friend. A father’s love never fails or disappears as God has shown us, by example, with his love for us, His children.

.

1 John 3:1 NKJV — Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

I remember my dad (the one on the right), in my eyes he was larger than life. The only man who could catch a touchdown pass in a flag football game, run into a chain link fence and come back to the sideline with a smile on his face. He also had the knack of hitting a golf ball, with a baseball swing mind you, right behind the only tree on the golf course. Yet, me and my brother could never find a way to defeat him. He wasn’t perfect but he was a man of God and worked hard to reflect the principles of God and pass it on to his children. We also realized that to avoid the trees on the golf course, it was better to have a golf swing.

Dad (the one on the right), was a man who chased after God’s heart and my wife once said to me that he was a man with a double-portion life. No matter what the circumstances were, if he had to be somewhere, the Lord would provide a way and he would be where he had to be. My mom, brother, sister and I always knew that if we needed him, he would be there. By that example he taught us on how to have faith in God and that He would always meet our needs.

.

Mark 11:22-24 NKJV — So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

.

My dad went home to be with Lord in the fall of 2009 but through him I learned a valuable lesson. Be the best dad you can be and never be afraid to ask for help. Seek God’s instruction and wisdom and let the Holy Spirit guide you to the solutions the Lord has waiting for you.

A Dad and His Son

.

“Pops, Dad or Daddy,” whatever you call him, is special. He is the building block of the family while the mom is the solid ground he builds upon and the Lord is the foundation that anchors the family together. All loving and caring dads understand this and through God’s wisdom can they lead their children in the ways of God.

And do not forsake the law of your mother;

Jennifer (the one on the right…lol) is all grown up now but we have a new addition to our immediate family – Zachary Daniel. He is a blessing and full of energy. He has appeared on several videos with his mom Lana and is learning more about God everyday.

That very first day was a very special day. Holding Jennifer in my arms will always be a great and wonderful memory for me.

.

We must also remember the love that our Heavenly Father has for us, His children.

.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

John 3:16 NKJV — “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
