The View From The Mountaintop.

Matthew 23:27-39 KJV — Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Jesus Laments Over Jerusalem

Jesus looked over Jerusalem with sorrow because He was aware of the hypocrisy of the ruling and spiritual class of the city. Jerusalem and the nation of Israel were at a definitive point in their history.  He had arrived preaching the Gospel of Salvation. Thousands were healed and lives had been changed. Still, there were many who didn’t believe or just chose not to. The time was just a day, if not hours, away from the very reason He came into this world. The ultimate sacrifice was to be made and His crucifixion and death on the cross would complete the work Jesus intended to do. Would the people accept Him or would they turn their back on Him?

We must pay close attention to verses 37 through 39 and understand that this is not only a prophecy for Jerusalem and Israel, but a prophecy for Washington D.C., the United States and the rest of the world. As we take a look at some past empires and kingdoms, most notably, Babylon, the Roman Empire and the Soviet Union, the common denominator is the absense or the lack of acknowledgment of God in their governments or societies.

We see the same fervent attempt to do the same in a nation that once boasted so proudly they were “One Nation Under God” and “In God We Trust” on their currency. Since the beginning of 1991, the United States and much of the “Western” culture has repeatedly turned a cold shoulder towards Jesus, His teachings and have rejected Him once again. On the floor of Congress, we have witnessed God being mocked, prayer being dismissed and recently on 2021’s National Day of Prayer, God was omitted from the President’s prayer. It made many wonder, “Whom exactly was the President praying to?” Racist organizations who promote segregation and immoral lifestyles lobby the halls of Congress to push their ungodly agenda and turn it into the law of the land.

King Nebuchadnezzar

Pride, arrogance and the worship of pagan idols brought on the collapse of the Babylon Empire, even though they were given fair warning and a chance to repent from their wicked ways. King Nebuchadnezzar and King Belshazzar chose to ignore the Prophet Daniel until it was too late. Is the United States doing the same by ignoring the Word of God and not adhering to the prophetic warnings within?

The problem we face is in the rush to get back to normal. We tend to forget the so-called “two minute warning” we were given by the pandemic. Patting ourselves on the back for finding a vaccine, in record time, to fight the COVID-19 virus and even learning how to fly helicopter drones on the planet Mars. It has given us a sense of life getting better. The globalist leaders and the “Big Tech” monopolies want the people to believe they are the ones who came up with the solutions and God has nothing to do with it.

The rising crime rate, the war in Ukraine, runaway inflation and the absence of leadership in domestic and foreign affairs has left the so-called “elite” scrambling for solutions. These “One Percenters” want us to believe they have the answers and they are smarter than God. As they struggle to climb a flight of stairs, the message they preach is based on lies and corruption.

The time of the Falling Away is beginning to take hold and the grip it has gives it the potential of dragging everyone to a catastrophic demise.

The Word of God

Bible scholars and theologians claim that 50 percent of the Word of God is compiled with prophecy. Many have come to pass, but many still remain to be fulfilled, especially the prophecies concerning the end times and the “New World Leader” that will soon take center stage and lead the world to a dramatic and tragic end.

The conclusion of the age does not have to end this way. If we as a people turn away from our wicked ways and ask the Lord to redeem us and receive us into His eternal kingdom, then what many will think of as an end, will be an exciting new chapter for those who believe and follow Christ. Are the nations of the world ready to accept Jesus as Lord and King or has our “Tower” of pride gotten so high that our hearts cannot open because of the thin air they find themselves in?

Luke 9:23-26 KJV — And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

The Lord is continually addressing our hearts, our heart’s attitudes and our heart’s desires. He is saying to us in these latter days, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23).
