Lighting the Way

Why is a lighthouse so important? Maybe we should consider this quote from Thomas S. Monson;
·
“Anxiously you ask, ‘Is there a way to safety? Can someone guide me? Is there an escape from threatened destruction?’ The answer is a resounding yes! I counsel you: Look to the lighthouse of the Lord. There is no fog so dense, no night so dark, no gale so strong, no mariner so lost but what its beacon light can rescue. It beckons through the storms of life. It calls, ‘This way to safety; this way to home.’ “

When sailing in from sea it can be difficult to find a safe harbor when you’re not familiar with the shoreline you are approaching. In the darkness of night you search for that guiding light that will steer you away from the treacherous rocks that could sink your ship and the precious cargo you carry.

Coming Into Port

While living in Charleston, South Carolina, I used to go down to the harbor during my dinner break just to watch the freighters sail into port to unload their cargo. Cargo freights stacked up one upon another seemingly defying the laws of gravity or at least the domino principle. I was amazed at how the crews and the shoremen worked in concert with each other to load, unload and ship the manifest to their designated rendezvous. When the sun would set and a departure was scheduled, a system of lights, buoys and of course, the lighthouse would guide the harbor master and the vessel to avoid bridges, shallow water passages and the numerous Revolutionary and Civil War monuments that lined the harbor. On occasion, the playful dolphins would add an entertaining dash as they swam in the wake of the mighty ship.

Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV — “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Being the “Lighthouse of the World,” is a title the United States has carried since the end of World War II. Now, that light is in danger of being turned off. Leaving the rest of the world to sail aimlessly in the dark. Because of its ingenuity and technical prowess, the precious cargo the “Lighthouse” has been able to guide and deliver to those in need is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But now the atmosphere in today’s society has become toxic. So toxic, the human race is gasping for air. The oxygen the Lord provides through grace and faith. Acknowledging the sacrifice Christ made on the cross for the redemption of mankind. To silence this message of hope is the main goal of the leftist globalists of the world. Most commonly known as the “New World Order.”

In a speech, given by President George H.W. Bush in 1991 to a joint session of Congress, a subtle but intriguing introduction was made for a “New World Order” and many historians and biblical scholars point to this as being the beginning of the end for the United States and its role as a major superpower. – The light in the lighthouse was beginning to fade.

The Danger Not Recognized

In the light of day the danger of the rocks can be seen. The lighthouse still stands as a reminder that when the darkness comes the guiding light is still needed for safe passage. In the current daylight or the so-called “woke” environment we are living in, society seems oblivious to the ungodly agenda of the unrighteous. Godly ideals, conservatism and lawfulness are not acceptable values in the climate we are living in and because of this, laws and legislation are being introduced and passed to stop the spread of the Good News and the message of hope. The seas are becoming uneasy. .

Matthew 8:24-26 NKJV — And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

Calming the Storm

The disciples knew the storm was real and a danger to their lives when they realized that the help they needed had been with them all along. They went straight to the Lord and pleaded with Him to save them. We find ourselves in a threatening sea but unlike the disciples, we refuse to go to Jesus and pray for direction and help. We see the turmoil, the economic stress and the strain on our personal and professional lives that we hear of people giving up. Losing faith and believing that God has forsaken them. What they need to realize is that they were told and warned about the coming storm.

In recent years, it seems that the lookouts in the crows nest have abandoned their post and the mighty ship of the USA has hit the rocks on the treacherous coast.

The origins of how this could have happened can be traced back to the time when our elected leaders decided to leave God out of the everyday lives and practices in our educational institutions. Secular humanism and totalitarian philosophy became the indoctrinarial practice of our educational system with leaving no room for Judeo-Christian values and capitalism. Dependence on government or most commonly called the state, is what they demand. Following the parameters of the globalist agenda is required – God and the Bible is not acceptable. Fear has gripped a nation that was so used to feeling at home with their place at the front of the line. Many Christians who have spent their time living with a lukewarm relationship towards the Lord have allowed themselves to be convinced that life without God is preferred. In many cases, this choice is leading them down to the bottom of the cold dark sea.

A worldwide pandemic, lockdowns and violence in the streets are making many feel that all hope is lost but we must realize that the last chapter has not been written yet.

Acts 2:17-21 NKJV — ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,

These words spoken by the disciple Peter during the day of Pentecost reminds us that a great move of God is on the horizon and in some places this move has already started. Holy Ghost revivals in Tampa, Florida, Roswell, Georgia and Corpus Christi, Texas are a clear indication that the light in the lighthouse has not gone out. What the United States and the world face is a time of great trials and tribulations that will test the character of all. Because of the choices that have been made, which the majority do not glorify God, the consequences will only be dire.

The Tempest

The angry sea is crashing into the treacherous shoreline and without the lighthouse to direct our vessels to safety we are destined to be shipwrecked. Although revisionists will say that the reason for the turmoil in the United States is because it was founded under scrupulous circumstances – and that is just not so.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

24 / 7, 365. It cannot be said any clearer. We need Jesus every second of the day. In this time of uncertainty the need for Him is the utmost priority. There are many who try to do it on their own and under their own understanding but the enemy is tricky and a deceiver and he will throw any kind of obstacle to make you stumble. We must pray and find other strong prayer warriors to join with us to read the Word of God and pray that the power of God will break through the darkness the enemy is trying to cover us with.

Luke 21:25-28 NKJV — “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; “men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

The Word of God tells us that a time is coming when there will be “rough seas” ahead but not to be concerned because our peace and safety is in our Lord Jesus Christ. Mankind seems to be in a hurry to build another “tower of Babel” to prove that they are equal or better than God. They keep reverting back to the foundation of the original sin which is pride.

Proverbs 16:18-19 NKJV — Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly,
Than to divide the spoil with the proud.

In recent days we have seen the prideful boast of the unrighteous and the intent they have to change the fundamental way of life we have all grown accustomed to. A “short circuit” of our society is in full display for the whole world to observe and the light inside the lighthouse is in danger of being extinguished. Continuous prayer and supplication is greatly warranted if we are to sail into calm seas and a safe harbor.

Daylight Fading

Is the sun setting on a once great nation? On July 4, 2021, it will be the 245th anniversary of the great experiment known as the United States of America. Will it also be the expiration date of a “milk” that has already soured? No one really knows for sure but the Word of God is filled with prophecies from Daniel, Ezekial, John and Jesus that state the end of the age is soon and that we must get “our house” in order and be ready for the Lord’s return for His people. While there is still time, we must secure our precious cargo for the voyage at sea and utilize the lighthouse to guide us through the treacherous coastline so that we may deliver the gift of salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ for a world in desperate need of His grace.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
