Drawing The Short Straw.

1 John 4:18-21 NKJV — There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Usually drawing the short straw means that you’re the one that has to do what no one else will do. It may also mean that you lose and are left out of the group. It’s also a metaphor for not getting what you want. Enough to make you feel rejected and angry. No matter how hard you try to win or get the top prize someone else gets it. A losing streak is hard to take and if it happens that you keep losing to the same person, group or thing, that anger you feel can turn to frustration and turn into hatred towards that person, place or thing.

.

1 John 3:14-16 NKJV — We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

.

There must be something in the water or something in our morning latté because we can’t seem to find love and goodwill towards our fellow man or woman. It’s so easy to find fault with someone that we forget the commandment that Jesus gave us.

.

Matthew 22:37-39 NKJV — Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ “This is the first and great commandment. “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

.

The last two passages are very clear about how we should conduct ourselves. Unfortunately, we have been subjected to displays of arrogance, pride and childish behavior through the media, religious and public elected officials. Since the beginning of 2007, there has been a steady decline in the belief of Godly and conservative values. Lawlessness, racial violence and self-serving lifestyles are in vogue and, of course, with the obsession with selfies everyone seems to be striking a pose these days.

.

2 Timothy 3:1-7 NKJV — But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

.

The Word of God foretold of the days that we are living in. Hatred is the driving force. No matter which side you may be on, in any disagreement, we should be able to find some kind of middle ground. Peaceful resolutions and progress, even if it is slow, have become nonexistent.

No apologies, insincere excuses and no remorse, for a nationwide and worldwide audience to witness, shows the extent that people in influential positions are willing to go when they are consumed with jealousy and hate. If they cannot be happy then no one else can be happy or deserves the happiness that Jesus provides. Jesus, Apostles Paul and John predicted that events that will affect our lives will only get worse in the latter days. The culture that the news media, social media and the entertainment business present is a toxic view of life. They literally take the philosophical belief that, “the needs of the few (the elite) outweigh the needs of the many.” Sounds like a bad misquote from a Star Trek movie but this is what they believe. When things don’t go their way that’s when you see the anger and the hatred being displayed.

Matthew 24:9-10 NKJV — “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. “And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

.

Jesus spoke of what we, as followers of Christ, would face in these times and what we are witnessing in politics and news is a prelude to the hatred we will be subjected to in the near future. The fear of the unrighteous is the loss of power and money. They look at people who are successful are content with their lives as narrow minded, homophobic and racists along with the label of what is wrong with society today. They propose a totalitarian, socialist government ideal with up to 90 percent taxation so that the people are reliant on the government with no economic prosperity. Promising free healthcare, free education and affordable housing but only if you pay your taxes that will pay for these free services and most of all, you must conform to their beliefs and qualify. A system of total control that will lead to the mark of the beast and allegiance to the Antichrist.

.

Eventually, being conservative and believing in Jesus Christ will be frowned upon and be subjected to a hatred that could and probably lead to death. Is the anger we are witnessing telling us there is no hope? The answer may lie in what we feel in our hearts. We may not be able to prevent the inevitable events of the future but in the meantime, we can preach the Gospel and share the love of Jesus to all that will hear. The opposite of hatred is love and we must remember the God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that we could have everlasting life and live in peace.

.

Matthew 5:43-48 NKJV — “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, “that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. “For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? “And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
