The Starting Line

Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV — “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;

Before you were born I sanctified you;

I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

That moment of God about to touch Adam’s hand to give him life is one of the most famous depictions of anticipation painted by Michelangelo. The meaning of this moment is clear to Bible scholars and to Christianity on who is the creator of life and who grants it. The book of Genesis gives us the account of the beginning and our purpose;

Genesis 1:27-30 NKJV — So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. “Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.

“Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it;” Our purpose was very clear. Somehow we have lost our focus and have grown to believe that we are smarter than God and not to rely on His wisdom and guidance. Politicians, doctors and globalists believe that they know how to create life and know exactly when life begins. Contrary to the Bible verse given at the beginning of this article, the rejection of God’s plan for the human race and implementation of population control through contraception and abortion has led to a division in the United States, as well as the rest of the world, in causing the passing of laws that many believe do not provide a safe environment for unborn babies.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 NKJV — As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything.

The abortion debate is fraught with rhetoric, as advocates on both sides of the issue spin facts to support their side of the debate. From the White House to the family house no one can agree on the issue. Abortion and anti-abortion laws being passed and ratified in New York, Alabama, Illinois and Missouri have caused such a storm of reactions between Pro Choice (liberals) and Pro Life (conservatives) supporters that many millenials believe that abortion is a 21st century issue.

Abortion procedures have been around for millennia and the debate on wheither it’s right or wrong has followed.

The practice of abortion, the termination of a pregnancy, has been known since ancient times. The first recorded evidence of induced abortion is from the Egyptian Ebers Papyrus in 1550 BC.

During World War II, Nazi Germany exploited the practice in an effort to breed the perfect race to rule the world. Sadly, some of the medical techniques used by the Nazis are still being used by physicians today. Is it murder or just another option for birth control? Understanding medical reasons, rape or incest for an abortion may be acceptable but to eliminate a young life inside a woman’s womb before it has a chance to see it’s first sunrise is just unacceptable to many who believe in the sanctity of life.

Psalm 139:13-16 NKJV — For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them.

The argument Pro Choice advocates maintain Is that the baby forming in a woman’s womb is not a living being. They ignore recommendations for prenatal care for expectant mothers that acknowledge the health of both the mother and the unborn baby. Pro Choice leaders do not believe that life is given by Divine intervention and that their actions are morally correct and should not be questioned. What they don’t realize is that in the eyes of God they are breaking one of God’s commandments;

Exodus 23:7 NKJV — “Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.

We must remember that God wanted us to be fruitful and multiply. It was the life He wanted for us to live but with the free will He granted us to have we chose our own path. Scripture tells us how the Lord feels about children;

Psalm 127:3-4 NKJV — Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,

The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,

So are the children of one’s youth.

As advocates on both sides debate on where the starting line is for this race of life, maybe we should take into consideration another option instead of abortion. Adoption. A positive solution for unwanted pregnancies. We must work hard to improve health care for women and give them better choices instead of abortion. A documented adoption case in the state of Georgia, USA, has been a blessing for a thriving 8 year old boy. God has blessed his young life with a loving family and through his eyes life has been one big adventure.

Sometimes we never realize the impact children have on our lives until we give them a chance to live. God is the giver of life and with every heartbeat we should praise God and give Him thanks for the life we have. God also gave His only begotten Son so that we could have everlasting life. The price that Jesus Christ paid on the cross was to free us from sin and His resurrection gave us victory over death. All life is precious to God and if we continue to be fruitful and multiply as God commanded then we should try to do everything to protect the unborn. No matter what walk of life you’re from, believer or atheist, babies are a gift from God.

Isaiah 49:15 NKJV — “Can a woman forget her nursing child,

And not have compassion on the son of her womb?

Surely they may forget,

Yet I will not forget you.

Psalm 22:10 NKJV — I was cast upon You from birth.

From My mother’s womb

You have been My God.
