We have seen the troubles. North Korea, Venezuela, Syria and the Gaza strip. We turn on the news and there it is; countries in chaos, violence in the streets, government leaders accusing everybody else, except themselves, for breaking the law and holding them in contempt. With all this going on has anyone bothered to look up?

Luke 21:25-26 NKJV — “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; “men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
What could be heading towards our little blue world that we should be concerned about? NASA is readying for the arrival of the enormous God of Chaos asteroid set to skim Earth in 10 years time. On April 13, 2029, stargazers will see a speck of light streaking across the sky. What at first sight will appear as a shooting star will quickly get brighter and faster. For this is no ordinary meteor but Asteroid Apophis, named after the Egyptian god of chaos by NASA. The US space agency is already preparing to watch the 340m-wide asteroid as it hurtles past Earth. Flying by Earth is one thing for we have had near misses in the past but we’ve also had some hits.

Meteor Crater located in Arizona is a good example of a hit but there are those who believe that signs of the coming Apocalypse are evident “everywhere” according to Christian evangelist Paul Begley. The firebrand preacher from West Lafayette in Indiana argued, during an online broadcast, the cosmos is sending out clear warning signs of the end of the world. Pastor Begley cited the frequent flybys of asteroids and comets as evidence of his biblical doomsday claims. These claims, he said, are based on prophetic passages in the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 24.
Isaiah 24:1-3 NKJV — Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty and makes it waste,
Distorts its surface
And scatters abroad its inhabitants. And it shall be:
As with the people, so with the priest;
As with the servant, so with his master;
As with the maid, so with her mistress;
As with the buyer, so with the seller;
As with the lender, so with the borrower;
As with the creditor, so with the debtor. The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered,
For the LORD has spoken this word.
But how do these cryptic passages in the Bible relate to the end of the world and the supposed signs flashing in the heavens? Pastor Begley argued the events described by Isaiah are yet to pass but when they do, the results will be cataclysmic for the inhabitants of Earth.

NASA says that Every 2,000 years or so, a meteoroid the size of a football field hits Earth and causes significant damage to the area. They also claim that only once every few million years, an object large enough to threaten Earth’s civilisation comes along. Impact craters on Earth, the moon and other planetary bodies are evidence of these occurrences. In the book of Revelation there is a passage that predicts the Earth being struck by a meteor;
Revelation 8:10-12 NKJV — Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter. Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

Many Bible scholars believe that this event will happen during the 7 year tribulation but nonetheless it will happen. We may be powerless to prevent the bible predictions but we must continually pray for those who do not know the Lord as their Saviour and that they will receive Him and have everlasting life. There is one event we all should be anticipating;
Luke 21:27-28 NKJV — “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
