2 Timothy 4:3-4 NKJV — For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
Are we walking aimlessly through the wilderness? Does it seem as if we have not had a drop of water to drink? Nothing to quench our thirst for truth and righteousness? Sunday morning arrives and we fall into the routine of “what to wear, we can’t be late, do I look okay, where will the Johnsons be sitting and I hope the Pastor understands that we have to get out of church by 12:15 or we will never beat the crowd at the Golden Corral?” Not a thought to the well being of others. So preoccupied by our appearance and “notice-ability,” if there is such a word, that if you were to ask us what the sermon was about, we couldn’t even tell you. Why does this happen? Why do we put God in a little box and only wind Him up on Holidays? The answer may not be what you want hear, then again, maybe you do.
Several days had passed and while observing the news of shutdowns and confrontations, the question came, “Why aren’t we humbling ourselves before God and praying for an end to all this madness?” The news media manipulating video to bolster their ungodly behavior, perversion and pedophilia being celebrated on social media and all sin being accepted as a normal way of life.
The church seems powerless to fight and these “TV” evangelist are still stuck in the 1980’s with their “70” keys to prosperity as long as you send them $29.99 for their latest book. Didn’t they learn anything about what led to their demise in the decade of self-absorbance? Again we ask, “Why is this happening?”
While in prayer, the Lord directed me to the following scripture and the answer was quite clear;Amos 8:11-13 NKJV — “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord GOD,
“That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the LORD. They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD,
But shall not find it. “In that day the fair virgins
And strong young men
Shall faint from thirst.
We have seen the damage, the unrighteousness and the lawlessness, still, no action is taken. We wait for the 20 second sound bite, which in most cases are taken out of context, and we wait for the all important weather forecast. Wasn’t it supposed to be sunny and warm today? Oops, doppler radar got it wrong again. Christians in the United States run in fear of persecution and yet, for the time being, they still live in a country of laws that protect free speech, religious freedom and the privilege to vote for change when policies or restrictions interfere with their pursuit of happiness.
Isaiah 5:20-21 NKJV — Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
And prudent in their own sight!
Living without God is not a lucrative deal. It’s a mirage the world has created to make people believe that they are better that God. This lie has been told before;
Genesis 3:1-5 NKJV — Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; “but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Where did that get us? Separation from God but He had a plan, a plan to defeat any challenge the devil came up with. His only begotten son Jesus Christ. If we believe and trust in Him we shall have peace and everlasting life.
God gives a warning to those who call evil, good and good, evil. The outcome is not favorable for them. The mainstream media want you to believe that they know the difference between right and wrong. They know what’s best for you and anything else is a sign of mental illness. Remember, when the news media reaches this conclusion it is only a opinion and in most cases, unverifiable.
Mirages are all the devil can provide for you. He’ll make you run to it thinking you have found the oasis you’ve always been looking for. When you reach it, there’s nothing there but sand. Your thirst continues and he steals your hope away from you. Pray brothers and sisters and all followers of Jesus that He will guide you through the wilderness and bring you to the promised land just as He did for the Israelites when led them away from Egypt. Let the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit guide you to victory and know that He has prepared a place for you and will return soon to receive you home.
Matthew 5:6 NKJV — Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
