The Tears of Autumn

Words are not enough to describe the tragic and heartbreaking events that unfolded inside The Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On October 27, 2018, a crazed gunman walked into a Jewish synagogue and took the lives of 11 people and wounding several others including 4 law enforcement officers before surrendering to authorities. It has been reported by CBN, Fox News, ABC and other media outlets that the shooter acted alone and had a hatred towards the Jewish community and was not tied to any political affiliation.

Some media sources have tried to associate the shooter with liberal and conservative factions but it’s just another attempt to explain something that they are unwilling or unable to understand. Another shooting, another city. This may be a daily recurrence in major metropolitan areas around the world but when it is focused on a particular group of people then the strong emotion of hatred comes into play.

Genesis 1:27-28 NKJV — So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Hate – By simple definition it’s a feeling of intense or passionate dislike. Why is this emotion so prevalent in today’s society? The Word of God, in the first chapter of Genesis, tells us the we were made in the image of God, so what is there not to like? God gave us a free will and diversity from the very beginning and yet, hatred towards God and our fellow man carries on.

The parishioners of the Tree of Life Synagogue were singled out because they were Jews and considered, by a statement posted on social media from the gunman, that Jews were “the children of satan,” which is a lie from the devil but, unfortunately, many choose to believe. We are all God’s creation and we were meant to live and fellowship together and we must find the strength to grab the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ and guide us through the clouds of delusion and give us the love He desires for us to have for all of our brothers and sisters in the world.

As we take the time to remember the lives that were lost, we must also find the time to pray for their families as they face life without the ones they loved so dearly. In the time that we live in we must stay in continuous prayer for tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Our hearts go out to the congregation of the Tree of Life Synagogue and the people of Pittsburgh and pray for those who are consumed with hate and that they are delivered , in the name of Jesus, from the bondage hatred brings.

Matthew 5:4 NKJV — Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
