On High Alert!
Luke 21:9-10 KJV — But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Tensions once again are rising in the Middle East. This time focusing on the ongoing conflict in the country of Syria. Syrian government forces remain on high alert at military positions across the country. They’re fearful of a US strike after of an apparent chemical weapons attack near Damascus. The attack and the use of a chemical agent, still unconfirmed, targeting anti government forces also targeted innocent civilians including women and children. The action was condemned by world leaders at the United Nations also brought a military response from Israel.
Syrian officials invited international chemical weapons watchdog investigators to launch a fact-finding mission into the suspected poison gas attack over the weekend of April 8th and 9th. The Foreign Ministry said Syria will help the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons investigate the alleged attack, which killed some 40 people. Russia and Iran, two of Syria’s biggest supporters, deny the presence of chemical weapons being involved has not stopped the United States from investigating further and possibly responding militarily.
Syria has welcomed the support of military troops being sent by Iran and with Russia jamming US drones to hamper operations in the region is leading to an action where diplomacy might be the last option. Israel also became involved. Russia and the Syrian military blames Israel for a pre-dawn missile attack on a major air base in central Syria, saying Israeli fighter jets launched the missiles from Lebanon airspace. A war-monitoring group said the airstrikes killed 14 people, including Iranians active in Syria. Israel’s foreign ministry had no comment when asked about the accusations.
The ‘water’ is beginning to boil over in the Middle East and with the 70th anniversary of Israel’s rebirth as a nation being celebrated in May of 2018 the fear of hostilities escalating in the region is an uneasy prospect. The question being raised by pundits on both sides of the aisle is will the United States respond to Syria’s chemical attack? In response to the reports, President Trump blamed Syrian government forces for what he called a “mindless CHEMICAL attack.” In a series of tweets, Trump held Russia and Iran, Syrian President Bashar Assad’s chief sponsors, responsible.
Is this a prelude to a war predicted in Ezekiel 38 and 39 or another skirmish that has and never will have a resolution until God intervenes. Prayers are needed for peace in this troubled area. The unrest gives credence to the fact that the latter days are upon us. If this is true then we must be ready for events God has put into place.
Luke 21:28 KJV — And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
