The Point of No Return
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 KJV — Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
We all want to be a part of something meaningful. We are so willing that we are easily manipulated to the cause of the day. We find the right ‘Ken’ or ‘Barbie’ doll to be the ‘Poster Child’ of the cause and we hang on every word they speak. Right or wrong, good or bad, their words become golden and if anyone opposes the doctrine they preach they are automatically vilified, insulted and sometimes threatened with physical harm. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 reminds us that there will be someone who will come along and dazzle the world with his words never realizing that his whole agenda has nothing to do with God. The world will be foolish enough to follow and worship him. Falling away rejecting Christ and His redemption for a lake house in the lake of fire.
Romans 1:24-25 KJV — Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” A popular sentiment often used when the best laid plans go awry. Hidden agendas and under the table negotiations plague our society and because of it division and disillusionment is usually the result. “The March for Our Lives” was a prime example of this kind of action. What was labeled a march for school safety so that high school and middle school students could participate quickly became a gun control and anti NRA rally with professional signs, banners and emotional speeches and led by the face of the cause, high school student David Hogg.
Looking for answers and demanding gun control laws to restrict 18-21 year olds from purchasing firearms. Many critics remarked that many of the proposals were being presented by students 18 and under with some being eligible to vote. Their voice was heard but many seasoned experts pointed out that many of their arguments may fall on deaf ears. When God and spiritual guidance was brought up as a possible solution it was met with anger and insults of small mindedness. Colorful debates were displayed for all to see on Facebook and Twitter. One Facebook user posted,
“Reading books about dead people and asking God to do things haven’t been and aren’t working. I’m sorry you’re blind. It doesn’t matter. These kids will change the world, regardless of whether or not you are part of it. Just get out of the way.” – Name withheld for privacy concerns.
For many Christians this is another example of liberals declaring that God is dead and irrelevant to our nations concerns. In a week when many followers of Christ celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the grave and His victory over death, it is very hard to understand that a nation that claims to be a Christian nation is willing to fall away from God’s help. The empty tomb of Jesus only reinforces that He is alive and ready to intervene to heal our land and the troubles the United States face.
2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 KJV — And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
God is very clear of what will happen when we, as a nation, hit the point of no return. Liberals, conservatives, David Hogg and people who think they are wise do not have the answer. Are we close to the ‘man of sin’ making his appearance? We may be closer than we want to believe. Pray that we stay in the presence of the Holy Spirit and that God will deliver us from evil.
Matthew 5:44 KJV — But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
