A “Man” Made Problem
Genesis 1:26-27 KJV — And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
From the very beginning the word man has been used in the english language to describe not only the human male but also the human race and objects, products and literature created by the hand of a human. In the last 40 years there has been a movement to eliminate or to change the definition of certain words in the english language. The debate over gender identification has put this practice into overdrive. Any word with “man” is the latest example. “Man-made, manuscript” and even the word “woman” are considered offensive with universities and colleges being instructed to being required to use alternative vocabulary.
Psalm 1:1 KJV — Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Staff at Princeton University have been ordered to stop using ‘gendered words’ in order to make the workplace more inclusive. In a memo issued by the HR department at the Ivy League school, staff are instructed to stop using the generic term ‘man’ and all job titles involving the word. Rather than referring to ‘foremen’ and ‘man hours’, employees are now expected to use ‘fore people’ and ‘person hours’ instead. Also out the door are ‘gendered pronouns’ such as ‘him and her’, to be replaced with the plural ‘they’. According to the memo the new guidelines will cover all written communication by HR staff, including job postings. The note says: “These communication guidelines reflect the inclusive culture and policies at Princeton University.”
Psalm 40:4 KJV — Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
“…Where no man has gone before.” has turned into “…Where no one has gone before.” In the 1980’s the opening “Captain’s creed” was changed when Star Trek: The Next Generation first aired. It was a change, with little fanfare, to coincide with the changing times but now critics believe that the attempt in replacing the so called “offensive” words to appease the transgender supporters is going too far. Somehow, “One small step for ‘me.’ One giant leap for ‘homosapiens.’ just doesn’t have the same impact like the original quote did in 1969.
If the supporters of this action continue, they could damage literature in history, theatre and science. These changes could also damage and change the meaning of new printed versions of the Holy Bible. We must pray that our younger generation learn the language that been a standard for centuries. We are God’s creation and He saw that it was good. God did not make a mistake. Man and woman, male and female has always been His perfect plan. Gender confusion is a cry for help and deliverance and we must pray that the Lord will heal their hearts and restore broken lives.
John 10:9 KJV — I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
