2 Timothy 3:1-7 NKJV — But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Does it really seem like there’s nothing to watch on TV? We check out our cell phones, tablets and all the streaming apps and still, nothing but retro-tv reruns. Maybe it’s time to change our habits and learn to do something else?
Scientific researchers have concluded and scientific published articles have stated that to change and start a new habit of behavior could take a total of 21 days to as long as 2 months. If changing your way and perception of life can happen so quickly, then could a carefully edited and monitored propaganda campaign change opinions and beliefs of a world so desperate for an answer? Could people really believe a lie? Scientific experts say, yes.
We turn on the news, but somehow the wires must have been crossed. What’s good is bad and what’s bad is good. Setting a city on fire is called peaceful, but if the pigment of your skin is the wrong color, then you are considered violent, homophobic and a racist. The only crime you committed was standing in line to order a burger and fries at the local fast food restaurant.
How do we know this is happening? The so-called, “trusted and ethical” news anchors tell us so. We’re supposed to accept every word they report as truth and should not question the validity of any of the claims they make.
According to one survey, the average American spends 238 minutes a day watching television. Allowing anyone to pump that much propaganda into their minds day after day makes it inevitable that the way that they view the world is going to change.
The big corporate-owned news networks would like the viewing audience to believe they are the “guardians of democracy” and are just looking out for the public’s best interests. Needless to say, that is not even close to reality. In this present day and time, it seems that everyone has an agenda to push, and the big corporate-owned news networks are not any different. The “journalists” at those networks are going to shape the news, by sometimes becoming the story instead of just reporting the events at hand. They continually push the narratives that their corporate CEO’s and News Directors want them to push, and anybody that believes otherwise is simply being naive. Their ultimate goal is to convince the world that life without God is the way to live. The entire system is designed to direct us to ungodly lifestyle choices and demonic voices that sooth and tickle the ears of the gullible and are constantly working very hard to alter what we think about things.
The lifestyles of these “media darlings” are not very admirable. Alcoholism, drug abuse, promiscuous behavior and adultery ran rampant in the television news business but they will never openly talk about it in public.
They inspire and influence many and over the past 50 years the “news” business has gone from journalistic excellence to pure opinions and theatrics. – Maybe it’s time to change the channel?
Is there something that can be said? There is a message that Jesus gave to His disciples and followers concerning the very same type of people that ruled and influenced Jerusalem and Israel just before His time to to be tried and crucified. These same people would actually be involved in sentencing Jesus to death. The message was strong and direct and many of our modern day scribes and pharisees in the news media, especially those who control the unrighteous narratives, should really take heed and re-examine what they practice.
Matthew 23:1-26 NKJV — Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. “Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. “For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. “But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. “They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, “greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’ “But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. “And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. “But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. “And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obliged to perform it.’ “Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? “And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obliged to perform it.’ “Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? “Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it. “He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwells in it. “And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. “Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. “Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
We must acknowledge that there are very hard working people in television news and many with very outstanding, distinguishing careers. The problem is, some of them may never reach a position of influence because by the time they get through the “meat grinder” of the job, there’s nothing else to give. When someone chooses not to sacrifice their integrity, it is better for them to walk away and move on to what the Lord has in store for them. We must make sure that our cup (liffe) is not only clean on the outside, but also what is inside us is clean through the blood of Jesus that was shed at Calvary so that we may be saved.
The “news” is a source for information but it should not be a source for ways to live our lives. Our source for life should be God and His Holy Word. Through Jesus we can find peace, rest and everlasting life. We must pray for the men and women in the “news” business because they are always looking for some kind of truth in every story they cover. We must pray that the ultimate truth they find is in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
John 14:1-6 NKJV — “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. “And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
